The Best Spoonflower Fabrics List

To anyone who is not sure which type of fabric to order from Spoonflower.
I recently ordered my first "cheater quilt" from Spoonflower to test the color and scale of a few designs. I had them printed on the basic Petal Signature Cotton. Well, needless to say when my samples finally arrived I was not impressed! The colors were a bit dull and the fabric was super coarse and looked very cheap.
A few things I found out after turning to my surface design support group, is that you must wash the fabric before use because the ink makes it super stiff.
I also got some great recommendations for fabrics they like to use from Spoonflower. So, I thought I'd share them with you.
Here they are:
The organic cotton knit, is soft and has strong colors.
Linen/Cotton, great for tea towels, color is better than the basic cottons.
Satin, colors are very rich.
Cotton Poplin, prints truest to color for a cheaper option.
Organic Cotton Sateen, softer than cotton and has a slight sheen, photographs well.
Perineal Sateen Grand, looks and feels very nice, although I did not see this option on the Spoonflower drop down so I'm not sure if it's something they still stock.
Hopefully this is helpful for your next or first Spoonflower fabric order!
Have a fantastic day,
XOXO
Hannah
